Understanding Reports
MyBooks transforms your daily transaction data into meaningful financial insights. Access all reports from the Reports module in the sidebar.
Core Financial Reports
Profit & Loss (P&L)
Shows your revenue minus expenses over a selected date range. Tells you if your business is profitable.
- Filter by date range, contact, or account.
- View a 12-Month P&L to compare performance month-by-month across the year.
Balance Sheet
A snapshot of what the business owns (Assets), owes (Liabilities), and the net worth (Equity) at a specific date.
Cash Flow Statement
Tracks the movement of cash in and out of your business, categorized into:
- Operating Activities: Day-to-day business cash flows.
- Investing Activities: Asset purchases and sales.
- Financing Activities: Loans and capital contributions.
Trial Balance
Lists all accounts and their debit/credit totals over a period. Used to verify that the books are balanced.
General Ledger
A detailed chronological list of all transactions across every account. Useful for auditing and deep account analysis.
Contact & Aging Reports
Contact Aging Summary
Groups outstanding receivables (from customers) or payables (to vendors) by how long they've been overdue. Buckets: 0–30, 31–60, 61–90, 90+ days.
Contact Aging Details
Same as the summary but broken down to individual invoice/bill level.
Contact Statement
Generates a full transaction statement for a specific contact — useful for sharing with customers or vendors to settle disputes.
Contact Report / Contact Balance
Overview of balances across all contacts, showing total receivable or payable per contact.
Account & Transaction Reports
Account Transactions
Shows all transactions posted to a specific account (e.g., all activity in your Sales Bank Account) in chronological order.
Payment Report
Summary of all payments received or made within a date range, filterable by contact or payment mode.
Transaction Reports
Detailed list of all transactions (invoices, bills, expenses, journals, etc.) with advanced filtering and grouping options.
Inventory Reports
Stock Balance
Shows the current quantity on hand and value of each item in inventory.
Stock Transactions
Detailed log of every inventory movement (inward from bills, outward from invoices, adjustments).
Tax & Compliance Reports
Tax Summary
A summary of all taxes collected and paid across your transactions for a selected period, grouped by tax rate.
GSTR-1 (Outward Supplies)
For Indian businesses — summary and detail of all sales transactions with GST, in the format required for filing GSTR-1.
GSTR-2 / Inward Supplies
Summary of all purchase transactions with input tax credit (ITC) details.
GSTR-3B
Monthly self-declaration of summary totals for outward supplies and input tax credit for the GSTR-3B filing.

The Reports menu groups every report into categories. Here's how those categories map to the sections above:

Customizing Reports
Most reports allow you to:
- Filter by Date Range.
- Filter by Contact, Account, or Item.
- Group data by different dimensions (e.g., by month, by contact).
- Export to PDF or Excel for further analysis or sharing.
